About Coltie Collies My husband (Alan) & I bought our first Collie in 1983. We knew nothing about dog shows & had no intentions of showing Sandy (Tamett Scott). We were enjoying him just as a pet.
We joined the Collie Club of Victoria & started going to Members Comps at Coburg. Sandy had pricked ears so we ended up getting those over quite easily. We soon had the show bug & bought our second Collie Misty (Maurville Mystic Dream) from Maureen & Bill Rollason. Maureen was so helpful teaching me what to do at shows. Maureen's tips were so valuable & her friendship so special. I'll never forget the times we shared. After a couple of years showing, we decided to start a family & put dog showing on hold. Time went by & sadly my Collies passed away.
CH Coltie Regal Copy In 1998, I went to Maureen & asked if she had any pups available. It wasn't too long before Maureen gave me the pick of her litter. We were so grateful that Maureen entrusted us with this beautiful puppy Jackie (CH Maurville Regal Dancer). Jackie is such a delight to own and show. Jackie's love of showing made my job easy. Unfortunately, Jackie wasn't blessed with a massive coat. Jackie lacked it so much the judges loved her but often said, "I'm sorry she's left her clothes at home." The amount of times I'd heard that was disappointing.
CH Coltie Regal Copy It was suggested to me that I should have a litter. I went back to Maureen & used Robbie (Maurville Extra Copy). We had 4 beautiful pups, 2 of which we kept. A boy, Brock (CH Coltie Regal Copy) & a girl, Taylah (Coltie Regal Star). Yes, it did help with Jackie's coat & she went on to gain her title & continued on her winning way. Just a few of her wins included Royal Melbourne Show BCC & the following year Res CC. The Collie Club of Victoria Show she won Best Collie Rough, Runner Up In Show, & also winning Runner Up In Group & Show. Jackie finished her show career with 637 points. I would have loved to continue showing her to her Grand, but time & age ran out. Her' son Brock also loved the show ring & doing us proud.
CH Maurville Regal Dancer We then purchased Grace (Brentland By Starlight) who had a short time in the ring before doing her motherly duties, producing 7 beautiful puppies with Brock. We were so happy with the pups we kept 3. 1 boy, Murphy (CH Coltie Stanzout) & 2 girls, Kelly (CH Coltie Stop N Stare) & Cy (Coltie Heaven Sent). Both girls doing us proud.
CH Coltie Star Attraction We also had a litter from Taylah & Jordan (CH Brentland Black Watch), producing 2 lovely pups. We were talked into keeping a girl, Bear (CH Coltie Star Attraction) who is over half-way to her title. Bear has had a long time out of the ring because she dropped all her coat & looked like a smooth. We are looking forward to the future & having fun with these beautiful youngsters.
